What Houston's Been Up To

I feel like I am always posting about Peyton and my mom pointed out that I have only posted a couple of pictures of Houston since Christmas. So I decided that this post would be about Houston and a little bit about Peyton (I can't help myself).

Well Houston just keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday. He will be 8 months on the 15th of this month. When I took him in for his 6 month appointment a week before Christmas he weighed 22 lbs 3 oz and was 29 inches tall. I suppose by now he is probably at least 24 or 25 lbs and another 1 or 2 inches taller. Last night I finally put away the infant carseat and broke out the toddler one. I just finally got sick of packing him around because between him and the carseat it is quite a load. Plus I was noticing for the first time last night that the infant carseat is for babies that weigh 20 lbs or less and are 26 inches or less tall. Oops!

Houston has been such a good baby so far. He has been sleeping through night for several months now and still loves his 2 long naps during the day. He is very content just playing on the floor, in his walker or in his jumperoo and he is constantly laughing at his big sister. She can just walk by him and he starts cracking up. He sits up real well now, rolls all over the place and gets around pretty good by scooting with his arms and legs but he has yet to crawl. I know it is still early but it just seems that because he is so big he should be crawling by now. Soon I suppose. He is quite the eater. Tonight he had a jar of carrots, 1/2 jar of pears, a hand full of sweet potato puffs and a whole banana cream pudding all to himself. Plus he'll have his bottle before he goes to bed. But he might be up late tonight with a little sugar in him. Here are some recent pictures of him. The ones of him sitting up on the floor were from a couple days ago and the ones of Peyton feeding him pudding were from tonight.

Kids Say The Funniest Things

Our little Peyton is constantly making us laugh with the funniest things she says. I don't know how she comes up with half the stuff she tells us. I have told a few of my friends and family about this one but I just think of it and I still laugh. The other day I was getting her ready and just got done doing her hair. She asked if she could have some gum and I told not until she brushed her teeth. A minute later she said "you can't have gum in bed huh mom" and I said "no you can't" and then she said "if you have gum in bed then it will get in your hair and when you get gum in your hair then that means your having a bad day" and I laughed and had to agree with her. She is getting so big and I feel so bad because one of the newer teachers at her daycare told her a couple months ago that when she turns 5 she gets to go to kindergarten. The poor thing hasn't forgotten that and she will be 5 on September 17th of this year but will miss the deadline by 2 or 3 weeks so she will have to wait a whole another year. Her preschool teacher says it is too bad too because she is ready to go in this fall if it wasn't for the deadline. She is in her second year of preschool and when it is all said and done she will have attended 3 years. Here are some more pictures of her on her 4-wheeler. I can't say enough how much she loves it and I actually got some of her riding during the day.

A Night Out Up Town

Last night we met my Grandma Pat, Uncle Wade, Uncle Kim, Uncle Mick and Aunt Laurie along with my cousins Calie and her husband Dave and Jessie and her husband Shawn and their little boy Braxton at PF Changs in Salt Lake for dinner. After dinner we went and rode the Front Runner. We originally were going to ride it from Bountiful clear up to Pleasant View but it was kind of late when we got to the station and we barely missed the train because we were still buying our tickets and the next train wasn't going to arrive until an hour later. From Bountiful to Pleasant View it is almost an hour ride so we decided we would just ride the train going in the other direction from Bountiful to Salt Lake and then back. Peyton and Braxton had fun on the train and I thought it was pretty neat but would like to ride it again when we have more time and when it is light outside. After the train ride Peyton had a sleepover at my Grandma's house with Braxton and my Uncle Mick, Aunt Laurie, Grandma and Braxton brought her home this afternoon along with lunch. It sounded like they had a lot of fun at my Grandma's house. Thanks for the fun night everybody!!!

Date Night At The Arena

Last night was open ride at the South Jordan Indoor Arena so we loaded up a couple horses in our little trailer and met our friends down there for what we kept joking about was "Date Night". Peyton was so excited to go and try out her new spurs she got for Christmas from her brother and her legs are finally long enough to reach her stirrups on the saddle my parents got for her for Christmas a couple years ago. The stirrups are still just a little long but not too bad. Hadley and Haylee were nice enough to stop and pick up Bradyn's oldest horse Rummy for Peyton to ride since we didn't have room in our trailer. We desperately need to get a new trailer that we can haul all of our horses in. Bradyn told Peyton last night that Rummy is her horse now since her young horse Knightie Night that my parents got for her isn't ready for her to ride yet. We all had a lot of fun. Thanks Brent and ReNae for watching Houston. It made it a lot easier so we could all ride at the same time. I forgot to take my camera and I couldn't get a very good shot with my phone because Peyton wouldn't stop riding long enough so this is what I got.

Sledding with Cousins

This last Saturday night we went to Hadley and Haylee's for pizza and watched the Colts vs. Chargers playoff game. That night Peyton had a sleepover with Preslie and Raylee at Hadley and Haylee's house. Hadley wanted to take the girls sledding so we met them up at the splash park in Herriman on Sunday afternoon. Brent, ReNae and Shayne all met us up there as well. Luckily the sun was shining and it really didn't feel as cold as it said it was in my truck. Houston was all bundled up in my arms most of the time so I wasn't able to get the best of pictures.

Fun on the 4-Wheeler

Peyton has been having so much fun on her 4-Wheeler that she got for Christmas from Santa. She has to ride it everyday and she thinks it is fun to ride when it is dark because her 4-Wheeler has lights. She is driving it so well and is getting pretty daring. The other night she took the turn onto our driveway a little too fast and ran up on the snow bank. She didn't get scared at all. She just hopped off, grabbed the back rack and tried to pull her 4-Wheeler of the bank. She has just been driving it around our house for now but when the snow clears we will take her out to 5 Mile Pass. By then she it ought be real good on it.

Happy New Year's 2009!!!

Well our New Year's parties aren't quite what they used to be before we had kids but we still had fun. For the last couple of year's all of Bradyn's uncles and aunts and a couple cousins from the Bennett side go over to Brent and ReNae's for a New Year's Eve party so this year we decided to stop in for a few minutes to see what it was all about. After that we went to Jimmy and Tiffanie's for their party. There was lots of good snacks, friends and of course, kids. All the kids (with the exception of the babies) even made up until midnight. Thanks Haylee for taking pictures for me while I played cards.
